Ittiri is located in Logudoro, in the region of Coros, in the province of Sassari. The town, situated on a plateau, is surrounded by a picturesque and fertile land of alternating olive tree groves and vineyards, plateaus and plains. Its old town centre still preserves paved and cobbled streets, majestic buildings rich in trachytic architectural embellishments, statues and elements of urban decoration. A prosperous place since ancient times, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological remains relating to the Prehistoric, Punic, Roman and Medieval ages, Ittiri is now an important centre, renowned for its traditional craftwork, such as textile and embroidery activities, the processing of trachyte and for its agricultural produce. For years, among other things, it has been the scene of an international exhibition of folk dancing which, during summer, involves artists from all over the world.
